As HSBC Group Chief Data Officer, Kate is responsible for the bank-wide data strategy, aiming to make the organisation truly data-led. Her team provides a blend of thought leadership and strategy, alongside design expertise and governance, working in close partnership with business and technology stakeholders from around the world. An active ambassador for diversity, Kate believes inclusive teams are essential for innovation. Kate has been instrumental in the creation and delivery of HSBC’s data strategy, instilling and promoting the key tenets of protecting data, connecting people, and unlocking value for customers. Kate joined HSBC as Group Chief Data Architect in September 2017, based in London. Prior to this she has considerable experience in the global financial services industry, having held senior positions with JP Morgan, Barclays Capital and Morgan Stanley, spanning a number of data & technology disciplines. Kate holds an MBA degree with concentration in Finance, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Franklin University (Columbus, Ohio, USA).
