Growing analytics on a shoestring
Keeping things on track in a fast-growth startup is hard. In an environment where the fundamental structure of the organisation, the product, and it’s data is changing at pace, it sometimes feels like clarity is an aspiration rather than normality.
Alan leads the data function at Tails.com, and has been grappling with this problem for the last 5 years. In that time Tails has grown by at least one order of magnitude in most of its measures of scale to now feeding over 9 million meals a month to dogs in three countries, with each still getting a unique recipe of food tailored to their individual needs. In this session he will attempt to add some retrospective structure to that journey and reflect on some lessons learned. He’ll cover:
- No data or bad data?
- Teach your CFO SQL?
- Spending money on buzzwords?
- Getting too excited about governance?
- Pictures of dogs?
