In this session, Stanford University Professor Kunle Olukotun will explain why empowering developers is critical for advancing AI. He predicts an increase in the number of open- source models, democratising access to foundation models across more organisations.

Prof. Olukotun will argue that placing powerful open-source models directly in developers' hands will accelerate AI progress. Enabling developers to easily harness these models means increased openness and innovation, which can enable better scrutiny and oversight, fostering responsible AI development. 

He will discuss SambaNova's new Sambaverse, a free online service for individual developers to easily discover, compare, and evaluate the latest open-source AI models. Sambaverse provides developers curated access to cutting-edge foundation models in a simple interface. Developers can concurrently test different models with their own prompts to evaluate accuracy and fit. This allows faster experimentation for developers to build new AI applications.
